Our question for discussion on Thursday (September 19): “Is it time for Canada to build pipelines to our coasts first, by any means necessary, to bring our oil to the world, and then settle with indigenous groups and other pipeline opponents?”.
Check Activity Notices for details of this season’s walks.
At 10 am for the next four weeks – Sept 16, 23, 30 and Oct 7 – we will walk on the Millenium Trail from the parking lot of the Picton LCBO for 40 minutes followed by coffee (and chocolate croissants?) at the Agrarian store beside the LCBO.
We start together and end together but everyone walks at their own pace, so suitable for both turtles and rabbits. We leave at 10 am sharp.
An email message is sent out every Sunday night with the location for the next day to anyone who provides their email address to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Our Classic Bookgroup will be affected by the government’s 50% cut to Ontario libraries.
The library service bookgroups rely on is the Interlibrary Loan service.
The arbitrary cancellation of this service requires another approach to keep our bookgroup functioning.
- We can choose from 40 sets of books set aside for ‘book club sets’;
- We can use digital means to share the content of a book.
May 13 at 1:00 pm we will meet at the Picton branch (lower floor) to discuss They Left Us Everything by Plum Johnson.
June 10 will be a test of our new system of choosing books for bookgroups or for individuals wanting material not available within our PEC library system (since couriers have been cancelled and even the IT website allowing books and library material to be shared has been taken down).
Please consider the choices below for our classic bookgroup for June:
- Away, or The Stone Carvers by J. Urquhart
- Jane Eyre by C. Bronte
- The Year of the Flood by M. Atwood
- A Good Man by G. Vanderhaeghe
The Probus cycling group starts Monday, May 6th, 9:30 am. Our first outing will be at Sandbanks near the Outlet entry. Closer to the date, I’ll advise those attending where to meet up.
If you would like to join the group, contact me at email@example.com .
Please wear your badge.
