Newest Probus Club in Canada

The Probus Club of Prince Edward County was officially established on Thursday, August 23 when the Charter Meeting was held in Picton. The club was chartered with 88 members making it one of the largest clubs in Prince Edward County.

There are over 5,000 Probus Clubs worldwide. A representative of Probus Canada spoke at the event and commented that this new club is the 246th Probus Club in Canada. There are now over 36,500 ‘Probians’ in Canada.

Probus is an acronym made up of the words “professional” and “business”. It is a fellowship organization of people with like interests. It is not a service club, and does not fundraise. Membership is made up of retired and semi-retired people who like to socialize, participate in activities and most of all have fun.

The new club was sponsored by the Probus Club of Quinte. The Club will meet monthly to hear guest speakers, discuss and arrange club activities. Social events and group interest activities will be ongoing throughout the month.
